Instructions to Students for Senior Exams


  • Check when your examinations will be held (Exam TT here in PDF format)
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the examination
  • Correct school uniform is to be worn at all times

 Equipment to bring

  • Ask your teacher what specialist equipment you might need
  • Pens (blue or black) more than one, pencils, rubber, ruler, calculator
  • Equipment not to be used include: electronic translators dictionaries* (English or Foreign)
  • Cell phones must be turned off and either left in your bag or with staff
  • Music equipment must be turned off and left in your bag

General Behaviour

  • Line up outside the hall and move into the examination room on instruction of the supervisor
  • Do not talk to other students during the examination
  • Do not share equipment with other students
  • Do not disturb other students
  • Do not copy from other student’s work
  • Only use black or blue pens
  • Do not write in pencil unless specifically told to
  • Do not use correcting fluid (Twink)
  • Cross out with a line work that you don’t want the marker to look at
  • Any exam paper that is written on will be marked and graded
  • All bags need to be either left outside or at the front of the hall.

The Examination

  • Listen carefully to the instructions given by the supervisor (teacher)
  • Read the instructions carefully for each paper
  • Mark clearly your name and class on all papers
  • For examinations longer than 2 hours students may leave after the first hour but not in the last 15 minutes of the examination. For a three hour exam students may not leave in the first two hours or the last 15 mins
  • Indicate (by raising your hand) that you wish to leave and hand all your papers in then leave quietly  and move well away from the examination room
  • You cannot return to the examination room once you have left
